What's does the NPORS N017 ABRASIVE WHEELS PETROL CUT OFF SAW course include? By the end of the training course you should have strong skills in the following areas:

  • Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and your responsibilities as an operator

  • Have a working knowledge of the manufacturers handbook and be familiar with other sources of information available including relevant legislation

  • Be able to locate and identify major components of the machine and explain their functions

  • Be able to locate and identify key controls and explain their functions

  • Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with the manufacturers and legislative requirements

  • Identify and maintain Personal Protective Equipment appropriate for petrol driven cut off saws

  • Select suitable type of abrasive wheel and battery/ petrol cut off saws relative to the work being undertaken

  • Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area and set up safety zones

  • Prepare the machine for use and operate the machinery safely and efficiently

  • Understand environmental considerations, noise, dust, fuel pollution etc.

  • Storage and transport of abrasive wheels and battery petrol cut off saws

  • Carry out end of shift shutdown procedures

Do I have to attend the full course if I'm already experienced? 
This training activity is not available in an experienced worker test format and all learners must attend a full 1 day course.
