The Level 5 NVQ Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations -Planning Lifts (Construction) qualification has been developed for achievement in a real workplace environment which means you need to be employed as an Appointed Person to undertake this qualification.

This qualification enables you, the learner, to demonstrate and Recognise your skills, knowledge and understanding and to demonstrate your competence in a real workplace environment so you can upgrade to the blue CPCS or NPORS Competent operator card.

What's involved in the NVQ level 5 
Appointed Person?

To achieve this NVQ you'll need to provide  evidence to demonstrate that you are a competent Lift Supervisor. Evidence can include:
 

  • An observation report from your assessor

  • A witness testimony from your line manager

  • Photographs and videos

  • Work Based evidence

  • Professional discussion

  • Knowledge Questions


There are Eight mandatory units to complete:

  1. Planning Work Activities and Resources to Meet Work Requirements in the Workplace

  2. Planning the Preparation of the Site for the Project or Operation in the Workplace

  3. Planning Lifting Activities Using Cranes and/or Lifting Equipment in the Workplace

  4. Developing and Maintaining Good Occupational Working Relationships in the Workplace

  5. Planning and Establishing Health, Safety, Welfare and Environmental Systems for Lifting Operations in the Workplace

  6. Evaluating and Selecting Work Methods to Meet Project or Operational Requirements in the Workplace

  7. Allocating and monitoring the use of plant, machinery, equipment or vehicles in the workplace


How long will the NVQ level 5 Appointed Person

This assessment is usually completed in 3-6 months.
